In a time of fragile economic conditions, corporate fraud remains a major concern for businesses. KPMGs Forensic practices have been conducting fraud surveys for over a decade and the latest survey indicates that over 60% of respondents believe that corporate fraud continues to pose major problems for Malaysian businesses. This survey and the subsequent report aim to assess the nature and extent of fraud and review the operational effectiveness of key fraud controls. It summarizes findings from well over a thousand companies, including all companies listed on Bursa Malaysia as well as a selection of one hundred private companies. The issues covered range from the impact of fraud, the motivations behind it and the steps taken to prevent and control it.
